Kamiakin High temporarily locks down for nearby gunshots, no one injured

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kamiakin High School in Kennewick locked down Tuesday afternoon for reports of gunshots near the school, according to Kennewick Police Department Commander Isaac Merkl.

Merkl reports that an officer was in the area performing a traffic stop when they heard a gunshot nearby. The nearby school was immediately locked down.

Several officers responded but could not find the source of the gunshots or anyone that was injured as a result.

Kamiakin’s lockdown has since been called off.
