Job openings stayed consistent in October, layoffs rose, according to Department of Labor

The U.S. Department of Labor released its Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for September and October on Tuesday, with findings showing

The Labor Department reported that the number of available job openings stayed the same from September to October at around 7.7 million openings.

Job openings last peaked at 12.1 million openings in March 2022.

The amount of layoffs also went up in October according to the report, going from 1.1% in September to 1.2%.

The number of people quitting their jobs in October also fell, which often signals a lack of public confidence in the economy.
