How to get notified in the event of a serious emergency

TRI-CITIES, WASH.-

On June 21st, 2023 at 10:00 AM Benton and Franklin County Emergency Management will conduct a test of the CodeRED mass notification system.

CodeRED notifies people that are signed up for it during emergencies like wildfires, flooding and even hazardous waste emergencies.

During the test staff contact the entire database, checking for dead numbers or people that have moved out of the area.

According to Benton County Emergency Management, they do this to remove those from the list and save time during a real emergency.

It is an Opt-In system, meaning you have to sign up to be contacted.

You can choose to receive messages through voice, text, or email notifications and they even have an app.

Benton County has it’s own sign up.

You can sign up for Franklin County’s list here.
