WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Governor Jay Inslee will visit the “town so nice they named it twice” on April 17 to highlight how the Climate Commitment Act is impacting the Walla Walla community.

The Governor is expected to visit an adult family home where a new, efficient electric heat pump was installed.

The adult family home is one of five selected across the state by the Departments of Commerce and Social and Health Services to receive new heat pumps under a pilot program to reduce residents’ exposure to pollution.

The pilot program received $250,000 through the Climate Commitment Act for the new heat pumps, according to the Governor’s Office.

At the Sustainable Living Center, a Walla Walla County nonprofit, Governor Inslee will examine how workshops, home audits and other programs help inform the community about the money-saving merits of efficiency improvements.

During the afternoon, Governor Inslee will visit with representatives of Washington’s wine industry at Woodward Canyon Winery.

According to his Office, Governor Inslee’s trip to Walla Walla will conclude after a meeting with representatives of the insulation and building materials company, Rockwool, that plans to open a manufacturing facility in Walla Walla County.
