Expo on human trafficking set for March in Kennewick

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-The Columbia Center Rotary works to fight human sex trafficking and will host a Shine-A-Light: Human Trafficking Education and Prevention Expo on Saturday, March 2.

The Rotary works with local schools, agencies such as the Support, Advocacy and Resource Center (SARC) and the community to educate about trafficking and promote prevention.

The Shine-A-Light Expo will offer resources and information from local agencies and will feature a guided “red flag” demonstration bedroom to help attendees recognize some signs of human trafficking.

Local law enforcement and allies of trafficking victims will also speak at the expo on topics, including “How bad is trafficking in the Tri-Cities?” “How can I detect and help local victims” and more.

Shine-A-Light Expo schedule:

4-5:30 p.m. Public Expo: Local resources and information booths. The “red flag” bedroom demonstration and fundraising activities.5:30-6 p.m. Professional Speaker Panel featuring local law enforcement.

The Shine-A-Light Expo will be held at the Columbia Center Rotary Event Center at 6222 W. John Day Ave in Kennewick.
