YAKIMA, Wash.-The Yakima Health District is offering free PFAS well water testing for eligible East Selah residents.

Through testing, the YHD hopes to gain a better understanding of PFAS contamination in private drinking water wells near the Yakima Training Center and provide additional resources to impacted homes.

“As we begin this important PFAS testing initiative, we are steadfast in our commitment to supporting households in East Selah,” said Shawn Magee, Environmental Health Director, Yakima Health District

Eligible East Selah residents must live in the sampling area and have a private or shared well for drinking water.

Residents who are eligible for the free testing, funded by the Department of Health’s Alternative Drinking Water Program, will be mailed a postcard with how to sign up for a test.

Eligibility status can also be checked online through the YHD, or by calling 509-249-6555.

“Through proactive testing and community engagement, we aim to empower residents with the knowledge and resources they need to safeguard their health and well-being and ensure every resident has access to clean, safe drinking water,” said Magee.
