SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-One person is dead after a car versus semi crash in Sunnyside on October 24.
Sunnyside Police, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, Sunnyside Fire and Lower Valley Fire all responded to the crash at the intersection of Vanbelle Road and Bethany Road around 1:30 p.m.
A Honda Accord was found in the intersection and the semi was stopped in the southbound lane outside the intersection when law enforcement and emergency personnel arrived on scene according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
The 25-year-old driver of the Accord was removed from the car and life-saving measures were tried by emergency personnel, however, the man died from his injuries at the scene.
According to a press release from the YCSO, the Accord was traveling east on Vanbelle Rd. but drove through the Stop sign at the intersection with Bethany Rd.
The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash and the YCSO is investigating.
