Crash caused by road rage, impairment injures three in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. – Three people were injured in a crash caused by road rage and a man driving under the influence in Yakima on Sunday, Dec. 24, according to the Yakima Police Department.

YPD and the Yakima Fire Department responded to a crash on South 16th Avenue and Grant Street around 2 p.m.

A driver in a Volkswagen Passat was making a left turn from Grant Street onto South 16th Avenue when they were reportedly hit by another driver.

The other driver, who was in a Honda Civic, was driving recklessly and 20 miles per hour over the speed limit after a separate road rage incident.

The 31-year-old driver of the Passat potentially sustained internal injuries while the 24-year-old passenger had serious injuries. The Civic’s 27-year-old driver was also injured and found to be under the influence.

The three reportedly had to be cut out of their cars.

YPD says the Civic driver could not be booked into jail due to his injuries. He was reportedly charged with vehicular assault and DUI.
