(AP) — In a story published March 8, 2024, about a federal civil lawsuit filed in the wake of an officer-involved shooting in Portland, Oregon, The Associated Press in a headline erroneously reported that the cause of the complaint was for shooting an unarmed Black man. In the lawsuit, the officer was accused of excessive force, wrongful death and gross negligence for failing to provide immediate medical care.
