YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima City Council proclaimed that Sat., April 13 is Arbor Day in the City of Yakima and that ArborFest at the Yakima Area Arboretum is the city’s official Arbor Day celebration.
With its 2024 theme being ‘Flower Power,’ ArborFest will celebrate Arbor Day through a vibrant event about embracing the true colors, scents and wonders of trees and forests.
The Washington State Department of Health and Department of Ecology will also be at the event to offer free soil screening for lead and arsenic. Attendees can bring their soil in a plastic zip-close bag to be tested.
The event is free and goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1401 Arboretum Dr. More information on ArborFest can be found online.
