PASCO, Wash.-According to the Pasco School District, Chiawana High School’s football team has been named the 2023 Academic State Champions.
The 4A Academic Championship is the first in Riverhawk history and was earned with a cumulative team GPA of 3.597.
“Winning the academic state championship in a sport as demanding as 4A football is an incredible accomplishment,” said Chiawana Athletic Director John Cazier.
According to the PSD, the championship is the result of hard work by Chiawana’s student-athletes and the academic and attendance standards set by Head Coach Scott Bond.
“This group of athletes has not only excelled on the football field but has also demonstrated exceptional academic dedication,” Cazier said.
