A rare black squirrel has been captured chomping into a batch of Christmas walnuts – after making friends with a photographer.

Adorable six-year-old Indy was pictured tucking into the delicious festive meal that James Linsell-Clark laid out for her in the back garden of his home in Cambridge.

James said the friendly little animal had started turning up at his property five years ago and he now feeds her a healthy nut-based breakfast every morning.

And he joked that she was a very ‘classy’ lady as she prefers Walnuts and Hazelnuts but won’t touch almonds.

James said he’d given Indy a special sack of her favorite food for Christmas and she was more than happy to strike a cute pose for him while dining out of them.

He said: “She has been coming to our house for four to five years. I started putting nuts out for her and then lately she’s got more friendly.

“Her favorites are walnuts, followed very closely by hazelnuts – but she’s not hugely keen on almonds.

“She is a classy squirrel, she’s got expensive tastes, and she knows what she wants.

She will come every day. Most mornings when I’m up, she will be there.

“Sometimes I will be in the kitchen, and I won’t notice her, but she will see me and she runs round to the other kitchen window and puts her face up against it.

“She’s very intelligent. She’s not scared of anything. But she is spoiled, I don’t mind admitting that.”
