Bail set for Benton City stabbing suspect

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-Bail has been set at $1 million for the 66-year-old man suspected of a stabbing on March 15.

Benton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Old Inland Empire and District Line Road in Benton City around 10:18 a.m. on March 15, after nearby residents reported a male with stab wounds who was bleeding near the side of the road.

According to Benton County court documents, the victim, a 47-year-old man, reportedly walked from Benton City to the suspect’s trailer before he was stabbed.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his right torso, left torso and right back and neck area. BCSO Deputies provided medical assistance before the victim was transported to the hospital for surgery.

The victim reportedly knocked on the trailer door before the suspect, a 61-year-old man, opened the door and began stabbing him with a knife, according to court documents.

The suspect was later found hiding near the river and was arrested without incident on suspicion of first degree assault.
