Annual Turkey Trot in Columbia Park raises over 89k for Red Cross

KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Annual Run for the Red Turkey Trot 2023 was held Thanksgiving morning in Columbia Park to raise funds for the Red Cross.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Red Cross Turkey Trot and Lamb Weston sponsored the 1 mile and 5K run in Kennewick to raise money for the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign.

The goal of the 2023 Turkey Trot was to raise $85,000 to support community members who need help in the aftermath of home fires and for the installation of free smoke detectors.

The local chapter of the Red Cross responded to 223 home fires, assisted 853 individuals and distributed $240,000 in financial assistance, according to Michele Roth, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Central and Southeastern Washington.

According to the Red Cross $89, 137 was raised at this year’s run and donations to the Home Fire campaign can still be made through the Turkey Trot.
