YAKIMA, Wash. – The Justice League of Yakima has taken a significant step in the recall effort against Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice by submitting over 1,400 signatures.

Curtice, currently on leave, is facing scrutiny after reportedly lying to law enforcement about taking illegal drugs from deceased bodies and using them at work.

The Justice League, one of 24 businesses involved, is committed to gathering more signatures through May. The goal is to collect 18,000 signatures to submit to the auditor’s office.

A total of 14,000 signatures are required to bring the recall issue before voters on the August ballot.
