YAKIMA, Wash. – The 51st annual “Vintiques” Car Show wrapped up its fourth day on August 3, drawing car enthusiasts from across the region.

More than 600 classic cars, 2,000 participants and over 5,000 guests gathered at the state fairgrounds. The show featured cars 50 years and older, all competing for various prizes while showcasing their meticulously maintained vehicles.

Ric Knight, Vice President of the Vintiques of Yakima Car Club, emphasized the sense of community that these events foster.

“It’s the community of it. When you really look back at it, whether it’s a cat show or quilt show, a plant show, it’s the people that are involved in it,” Knight said. “You make friends, you make social acquaintances, you go to swap meets, you go to a swap, meet every year for 15 years to find that one little thing. But while you’re there, you see these same guys and you talk about it and it becomes a community of this. So pretty tight knit community.”

Knight also stated that the 52nd annual show is scheduled for the first weekend of August, next year.
