2 dead, 2 injured in head-on crash on I-82 near Benton City

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. –

UPDATE 12:07 p.m.

According a press release from the Washington State Patrol, two people are dead and two are injured in the crash.

Taj Sohi, 20, of Kennewick and David Clark, 76, of Prosser were killed in the crash.

According to WSP, Sohi was driving the wrong way, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-82 around milepost 99 where he hit Clark’s truck head-on.

Two other vehicles also hit Clark’s truck from behind. The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were injured and brought to a nearby hospital.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Travel Center Map, I-82 is fully reopened.

Washington State Patrol is investigating a situation on I-82 near Benton City after a wrong way driver causes a deadly crash involving multiple vehicles.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, eastbound lanes at milepost 96 on I-82 are closed until further notice.

WSDOT says that traffic is detoured at exit 96 and that drivers can use local roads to back to I-82.

WSDOT says this time there is no estimated time for when the road will be fully open.
