18-year-old still missing in Benton County, Kadlec welcomes first baby of 2024 and Harvard President resigns

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-An 18-year-old last seen at Horn Rapids Park on Dec. 30 is still missing.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Gage Mercado was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.

Claudine Gay, the President of Harvard is stepping down. Her resignation followed accusations of plagiarism and criticism of her response to reported anti-Semitism on campus during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

According to NBC news reporting, Gay also faced growing backlash after she declined to state to Congress whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate Harvard’s code of conduct.

New Year’s Day meant the first baby of the new year for one family at Kadlec in Richland as Lua Kim was born at 5:30 a.m.

“We are so excited that our first born is the first baby of 2024,” said Minbum Kim and Hannah Mo, of Richland on the birth of their first child and the first baby of 2024.
