ZILLAH, Wash. – The Zillah Police Department is urging residents to help address a rising trend causing health and safety concerns in the Yakima Valley.
Unlicensed Pop-Up Taco and food stands have been appearing in Yakima, operating without health department oversight. These stands, which lack proper licensing, have allegedly made some patrons ill.
The stands often pop up in the evening when city officials are unavailable to address them. Under Zillah Municipal Code 8.32.030, mobile food vending is prohibited. The health and safety risks associated with these vendors are a significant concern.
The Zillah Police Department is asking residents to report any sightings of these Pop-Up vendors. If you notice one, call the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 509-574-2500. A Zillah Police Officer will respond to shut down the stand and take necessary enforcement action.
