YAKIMA, Wash. – Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary held its annual barbecue fundraiser at the Sozo Sports Complex this evening. The event featured a live auction, silent auction and a 50-50 raffle aimed at raising money for various programs.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve done. I think our biggest impact right now is our spay it Forward program, and that’s one of the things I’m going to announce tonight,” Kim Wertenberger, founder and board member of Wags to Riches, said.

Last year, the program successfully spayed and neutered more than 800 animals for low-income disabled military and senior citizens in the Yakima Valley. This year, approximately 650 animals have benefited from the program.
