YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima State Fair Park is hosting a festive Fourth of July community celebration, offering a day full of activities and entertainment.
The event, sponsored by Maverick Gaming, starts at noon today, and fireworks will be at 10:30 p.m., and only the carnival extends to tomorrow.
Kathy Kramer, the CEO from Yakima State Fair Park shared details about the event, emphasizing its community focus.
“It’s the Fair Association’s desire for us to have a community event where folks can enjoy in a family-friendly, safe environment for the 4th of July, as well as to see a spectacular fireworks show,” she said.
The celebration includes free parking and admission, making it accessible for everyone. The Kids Zone, a highlight of the event, will open at 2:00 p.m.
It features free activities like face painting, a coloring wall, water features, and Big Top the Clown making balloon animals.
The foam pit, a crowd favorite, is also available for children to enjoy. Attendees can indulge in a variety of traditional fair foods.
Kramer mentioned, “You’ll see right behind us the Walla Walla Burgers. So if you need your fair food fix, come on down just for that today because you can get them all. Corndog, burgers, funnel cakes, you know, all the great fair food.”
The festivities are a way for the community to come together and celebrate in a safe and enjoyable setting. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own picnic food as well.
