YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Valley Community Foundation and the Washington State Department of Commerce have teamed up to distribute over $1.5 million to 28 organizations in Yakima County.

These grants, ranging from $20,000 to $75,000, are part of the Community Reinvestment Plan (CRP), a $200 million initiative by the Washington State Legislature.

The CRP aims to invest in communities disproportionately affected by past drug laws. Funding will target areas such as asset building, community healing, matched savings, technical assistance and violence prevention.

The Yakima County Local Advisory Team (LAT), consisting of 10 community members, will oversee the selection of grantees. They will serve from January 2025 to June 2025, ensuring funds are effectively administered.

The goal is not only to offer immediate financial support but also to foster sustainable growth and empowerment throughout Yakima County.
