YAKIMA, Wash.–After two years of bargaining, Yakima Valley College and its faculty have signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The previous faculty CBA expired in June 2023 after being rolled over for a year, according to a press release. The new contract, signed on Jan. 9, will last until 2027 and includes automatic salary increases for full-time faculty members based on their time at YVC.
“In the past, we only saw salary step increases if there were turnover savings, which needed to be requested, calculated, and re-bargained each year,” said Rachel Dorn YVC instructor and union president, according to the release.
Some of the union’s priorities are included in the contract as well, including release time for the union president, re-evaluation for salary placement faculty who started at YVC before 2020 and more.
