YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Symphony Orchestra (YSO) announced Sam McClung as its new Executive Director starting in April.

McClung, a Central Washington University alumnus, brings a wealth of experience from his time with Santa Fe Pro Musica.

McClung’s tenure with the GRAMMY-nominated chamber orchestra included roles such as general manager and marketing manager. His leadership was instrumental in attracting over 2,000 attendees to the 2024 performances of Mozart’s Requiem, marking a significant post-pandemic achievement for Pro Musica.

In addition to his administrative expertise, McClung is an accomplished clarinetist with degrees in music performance from Central Washington University and the University of New Mexico. He has performed with several orchestras, including the Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra and the Spokane Symphony.

Reflecting on his new position, McClung expressed his enthusiasm for joining YSO. “It is an honor to join the Yakima Symphony Orchestra as Executive Director,” he said. He praised the artistic vision of Music Director Lawrence Golan and highlighted the orchestra’s role as Yakima’s artistic heart.
