YAKIMA, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is set to repair a damaged section of the westbound Interstate 82 Yakima River Bridge near Selah.
The damage occurred when a semi-truck crashed into the bridge on January 28, 2025.
According to a WSDOT release, repairs will begin on Friday, February 21, with crews working to straighten the bridge truss and repair the guardrail. The project is expected to be completed in early March.
During the repair period, westbound traffic on I-82 toward Selah will be detoured to Selah Road, commonly known as the Selah bypass.
Travelers heading westbound toward Ellensburg can return to I-82 after the Twin Bridges.
Signs will guide drivers through the detour, and travelers should plan for additional travel time. Oversized loads will not be allowed on the detour route.
