YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima is on the verge of selecting a new airport director following the resignation of Robert Hodgman in early October.
Earlier, the community had the chance to meet the two finalists for the position.
Robert Jacobs, a former resident of the Tri-Cities, has been working at the Memphis-Shelby County Airport in Tennessee since 2003 and has been their manager of airside operations since 2021.
Christopher Hopkins brings over 20 years of experience in the field and is currently working as an executive consultant with Aerospace Pathways and Airport Consultants in Colorado.
Yakima City Manager Vikki Baker conducted interviews with both candidates. “Each of them represent a positive vision for the airport,” Baker said.
Baker hopes to make the decision on who will get the job sometime this week, with the new director starting their work at the beginning of the new year.
