YAKIMA, Wash. – This Saturday, June 7, Yakima will see traffic changes due to two major events: Yakima Aviation Day and the Downtown Yakima Mile.
For Aviation Day at Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field, Washington Avenue will be one lane eastbound from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between 28th Avenue and 24th Avenue. The left lane will be for thru traffic, while the right lane will accommodate event parking. Heading westbound, no left turns off Washington Avenue will be allowed for event access. Drivers must travel eastbound to enter.
For more information on these changes, contact Street Maintenance Supervisor Jay Kendall at 509-576-6443.
Yakima Avenue will be closed from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. between 16th Avenue and South 3rd Street for the Yakima Mile. Flaggers will assist drivers, and roads will reopen between the 11 race heats. Organizers expect around 1,300 participants and 700 spectators.
These events highlight Yakima’s vibrant community activities, with Aviation Day featuring a new “Kid Zone” and the Yakima Mile celebrating its sixth annual event.
