YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Police Department is bringing awareness to a now taken down scam website that impersonated a local business and wired large sums of money out of victims.
Scammers reportedly created a fake website for local business Carrier Transports. The website attracted victims by showing heavily discounted farm products and machinery for sale.
The scammers reportedly convinced victims to wire large sums of money through a fraudulent invoice.
YPD says the FBI has been notified and the website has been taken down. YPD also urges the public to be cautious of online purchases and to verify the source before buying.
