YAKIMA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol is now investigating a crash involving a Yakima Police Department patrol vehicle, according to a YPD release.
On March 13, police said the patrol car struck a pedestrian and a dog at the intersection of N. 1st St. and Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way.
The woman, who was in a marked crosswalk when she was hit, was treated and released from MultiCare Memorial Hospital without any significant injuries, police said.
The dog, however, was killed in the crash, police added.
The Yakima Police Department has requested the Washington State Patrol to conduct an independent investigation into the crash.
