
YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima police, firemen and AMR members responded to a medical emergency near the East Lincoln Avenue and North Naches Avenue intersection, where a car hit a woman and left her with severe head injuries.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 5:45 p.m. on November 12, according to the Yakima Police Department.
When the first responders arrived, they found the woman who had been hit laying in the middle of the road. They provided first aid and transported her to MultiCare Memorial Hospital.
The police department said initial investigation revealed that a 2013 Lexus GS driving west in the southmost lane of East Lincoln Avenue hit the 35-year-old woman when she stepped onto the road from the north.
The driver, a 23-year-old man, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, the department said. The department said neither speed or intoxicants played a role in the incident.
The woman was later flown to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening head injuries and multiple broken bones.
