YAKIMA, Wash. – Á La Mode Spa in Yakima recently hosted its first-ever ‘Little Makers Market,’ inviting children from across the valley to sell their homemade products.

More than 20 kids participated, offering a variety of homemade items. From fresh-baked goods to crocheted animals, these young talents displayed their creativity in full force.

Erika Boutillier, marketing director at Á La Mode Spa, emphasized the educational benefits of the event.

“The emphasis is put on teaching the different aspects of business, the little ones. That’s not something that I necessarily had growing up,” she said.

Nine-year-old Audrey Lawson, who bakes sweet treats with her brother, shared her excitement.

“It’s really fun. [My brother] He taught me how to do a lot of stuff, and it’s really fun having him around,” she said.

Cousins Heyes Hood, 8, and Eden Boutillier, 9, expressed their joy in seeing their hard work pay off. “

It makes me feel happy,” Heyes said. Eden added, “Just because knowing that people like what you’re making and you put that hard work into it.”

Boutillier hopes to make the ‘Little Makers Market’ a recurring event.

“Support our little entrepreneurs. We’re very passionate about that here at A La Mode Spa, and we want to help encourage that and cultivate that any way we can.”

The event enabled local kids to explore their potential in business and creativity, with the goal of future opportunities.
