Yakima County invites community input on homelessness solutions

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima County is calling on residents, business owners and service providers to join two upcoming community engagement sessions focused on tackling homelessness in the Lower and Mid Valley.

The sessions will be open to the public, with translation services available. They are scheduled for Wed., March 12 at the Law & Justice Center in Sunnyside and Fri., March 14 at the Safe Haven Community Center in Toppenish.

“Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a coordinated response,” said Yakima County Commissioner Kyle Curtis “By bringing together stakeholders and engaging our community, we can create sustainable solutions that address both the immediate needs and long-term challenges facing individuals experiencing homelessness.”

These sessions aim to ensure all voices are heard in shaping the county’s policies and programs addressing homelessness.
