WSU Tri-Cities invites community to student research showcase

RICHLAND, Wash. – Washington State University Tri-Cities is opening its doors to the community for two events celebrating student research and creativity.

On Wednesday, April 23, from 3 to 5 p.m., the Showcase for Research and Creative Activities will feature 112 students presenting 51 original projects in Collaboration Hall. Attendees can explore research posters and design models while engaging with students and faculty mentors.

Ryan Learn, coordinator for undergraduate research at WSU Tri-Cities, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “The Showcase for Research and Creative Activities spotlights the ground-breaking research and illuminating artworks our students have been working on over this past year.”

Following this, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will host its annual Design Expo on Friday, April 25. The event begins with a poster expo from 9 to 10 a.m. and continues with project presentations until noon. The expo will display 15 design projects from 69 students across various engineering and computer science programs.

“Students will present their team projects professionally, demonstrating how they applied engineering principles to develop solutions for real-world challenges,” said Changki Mo, academic director of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Both events are free and open to the public, offering a chance for community members and industry partners to connect with the next generation of innovators.
