WSP seeks tips on fatal hit-and-run near Wapato on Oct. 11

YAKIMA, Wash.- Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking information regarding a fatal hit-and-run in Wapato. According to a press release from WSP, they received a report of a deceased person located along State Route 97 near milepost 71. They have been identified as a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.

Troopers, deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Yakima National Tribal Police Department all responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the collision occurred in the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 11 between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Parts from the suspects vehicle were recovered at the scene.

Additionally, investigators believe the involved vehicle may have front-end damage on either the driver or passenger side. This includes damage to the headlight, turn signal and possibly the hood.

WSP detectives are seeking information from witness who may have seen a vehicle stopped along State Route 97, or anyone who can help identify the suspect.
