YAKIMA, Wash. – A car chase involving the Washington State Patrol concluded in Yakima earlier today, following a pursuit that spanned several minutes.

The chase began a little before 11:00 a.m. around 10 miles southeast of Ellensburg on I-82 at milepost 10. It ended on Nob Hill Boulevard about 10 to 15 minutes later.

Troopers attempted to stop a van traveling slowly in the left lane due to traffic infractions. However, the van did not pull over, leading to a pursuit.

According to Washington State Patrol Sergeant Michael Christensen, the van reached speeds of 90 to 95 miles per hour on the highway. Troopers deployed tire spikes which effectively shredded both driver-side tires, bringing the pursuit to an end.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the chase. The driver, a man with outstanding warrants, was taken into custody and transported to the Kittitas and Yakima County Jail. A woman in the passenger seat was also taken into custody for outstanding warrants, but was later released when her warrants were not confirmed.
