RICHLAND, Wash. – Several people were injured in a crash early Thursday morning after a driver eluded Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers in a pursuit and proceeded to drive in the oncoming lanes on I-182.

At around 2:40 a.m., according to WSP, a trooper saw a car, later revealed to be stolen, speeding on State Route 240 near North Steptoe Street in Richland.

The driver of the car did not stop for troopers, and instead fled at high speeds. Troopers pursued the driver until they drove into a more populated area.

The pursuit was terminated, but began again later when the car was seen again.

WSP said the driver started going the wrong way on I-182, driving westbound in the eastbound lanes.

They drove up the wrong way at the Queensgate on-ramp and crashed into another car.

The driver of the car that was hit sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

WSP said that five people were in the stolen car and one was a minor. Two people ran from the scene on foot after the crash, but all were arrested and brought to the hospital for injuries.

Criminal investigators with WSP are conducting the ongoing investigation.
