PASCO, Wash.- Women Helping Women Fund Tri-Cities will celebrate 25 years of empowering local women and children at its annual fundraising luncheon on October 9 at the HAPO Center in Pasco.

Since its founding, the nonprofit has awarded nearly $38 million to 193 local programs, all aimed at supporting healthy families and vibrant communities.

“This event is about more than fundraising,” said Alicia Johnson, Executive Director of Women Helping Women. “It’s about standing together for the women and children in our community.”

This year’s keynote speaker is Tanya Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson. Tanya will share her family’s story of domestic violence, as well as her own experience and advocacy work.

“I didn’t know about Nicole’s abuse until I saw the photos in court,” Tanya said. “My goal is to keep the conversation going, not just at the luncheon, but every day after.”

She’ll also speak about the “Seven Characters of Abuse,” a concept from her book that helps survivors and supporters recognize toxic patterns.

In addition to the keynote speaker, attendees can expect opportunities to network with like-minded community member, hear updates on funded programs and celebrate the progress made through local support.

KNDU/KNDO Evening Anchor Ava Wainhouse will emcee the event October 9 from noon to 1p.m. You can register for a seat on their website.
