KENNEWICK, Wash. – A woman was left dead after witnesses say she was struck and run over by a car on a Kennewick roadway, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
The hit and run happened around 12:15 a.m. on November 1 near West Canal Drive and North Lyle Street, according to the department.
The department said the woman was likely hit by a car and left on the road and that the car did not stop or call 911.
The person who called 911 said the woman was already down on the road when a second car ran her over. The driver of the second car stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
When police officers and Kennewick Fire Department members arrived at the scene, they provided life-saving measures for the woman, but she died at the scene.
Kennewick Police Department investigators believe that the first car was a red or maroon SUV or truck. The first car was traveling east on Canal Drive and is expected to have front-end damage near the front left and grill area of the car.
The suspect car’s front left headlight and turn signal lens may be shattered as well.
The Kennewick Police Department asked anyone with information about the suspect car or the incident itself to call the non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.
The department also asked that people living near Canal Drive review camera footage between 12 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. on November 1 to see if they have footage revealing information on the hit and run.
