PASCO, Wash. – A hot air balloon made an unexpected landing at Chiawana High School as students arrived Thursday morning.
The Pasco School District says the balloon made a safe landing in the school’s parking lot after unexpected wind shifts diverted it from its landing site in Kahlotus.
The pilot contacted Chiawana in advance to get permission to land. School security then cleared the lot to ensure safety of students and staff.
PSD notes that hot air balloons land in open spaces like school parking lots on occasion when conditions require an adjustment.
Pasco Police say no one was harmed from the landing.
