Wildfire near South 24th Street in Yakima grows; containment efforts underway

YAKIMA, Wash. – A wildfire near South 24th Street and Nob Hill Avenue in Yakima remains active.

According to Yakima Fire Department Captain Jeremiah Stilley, the fire initially measured 300 feet by 100 feet, has since grown in size.

A containment line has been established to control the spread.

Captain Stilley noted that a helicopter has been requested to perform water drops on the fire.

Stilley confirmed that there have been no reported injuries and no structures are currently threatened by the blaze.

The fire originated from two separate fires that started close together and then combined.
