
WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – West Richland has announced the appointment of Chief James Fry as the new Chief of Police. Fry, who has nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, previously served as the Chief of Police in Moscow, Idaho, including during the Kohberger investigation.
Chief Fry began his law enforcement journey in 1993 as a Reserve Officer in Moscow, eventually rising through the ranks over 29 years. He is known for his commitment to community policing and public service.
Mayor Brent Gerry expressed enthusiasm about Fry’s appointment, stating, “His experience, credentials, and proven leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow as a community and invest in the safety and well-being of our residents.”
Fry is an alumnus of the University of Idaho, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. He has served as a guest lecturer for the university’s Criminal Justice Program and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
