West Richland fire hydrant tests may temporary discolor water

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of West Richland announced that routine fire hydrant testing will take place over the next month in neighborhoods north of Van Giesen.

The testing is part of essential maintenance to ensure the hydrants are functioning properly and to maintain a clean water system. Residents can expect temporary water discoloration, brief drops in water pressure, and additional city vehicles in the area.

Testing will occur Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If residents notice discolored water, they should run cold water from a faucet until it clears. The water remains safe to use, but residents are advised to avoid doing laundry during or shortly after testing.

The city appreciates the community’s patience as they work to ensure the water system operates smoothly.
