PASCO, Wash. – Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown spent a hot summer afternoon in the Tri-Cities, engaging with the community at a town hall meeting at the HAPO Center.
Brown emphasized the importance of understanding community concerns, stating, “We obviously represent the entire state. We have attorney General’s offices in this area. And so I’ve been out here before meeting with them and getting to know them.”
During the town hall, community members had the opportunity to voice their concerns on a variety of topics, including potential job losses at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
Brown noted the unique challenges posed by the situation, saying, “That’s the first time I’ve been asked: ‘How do you save science?’ In my first 6 months. I got good at answering: ‘How do you save democracy?’ But, I don’t have an easy answer for that.”
Brown spent over an hour with the community, discussing issues like immigration and education.
He left the audience with a message of unity, expressing, “I love this country. I truly do. I believe in its opportunity. I believe in its promise. I believe in its people.”
