West Van Giesen Bridge has been closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic, according to an update from the West Richland Police Department.
WRPD said the closure was necessary “due to the need for a structural integrity re-inspection.”
The bridge will be closed until further notice.
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Van Giesen Street is closed between Terminal Drive and 38th Street because of flooding.
The Yakima River rose Saturday morning, and the road now requires a closure for all lanes, according to the Richland Police Department. Police will provide updates as they become available.
Police advise drivers to not try to drive around barriers or on roads covered in water.
