KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) used one of its fully marked patrol vehicles to stop a driver from going the wrong way on a Kennewick road, according to a WSP release.
WSP said a 45-year-old Pasco man was northbound in the southbound lanes of SR 395 at Kennewick Avenue during the early morning hours of February 11.
The trooper, driving the patrol car with lights activated, was struck by the wrong-way vehicle as the trooper was trying to stop the vehicle from going the wrong way, the release said.
WSP said both vehicles were totaled and required towing services. The driver of the wrong way vehicle was taken to Trios Health with unspecified injuries, the release added.
Charges are pending against the suspected wrong-way driver. WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved.
