PASCO, Wash. – The Tri Cities Indivisible group hosted a ‘Justice for All’ protest earlier this afternoon at Volunteer Park in Pasco, in front of the Franklin County Courthouse. The event drew dozens of community members, all coming together to express their concerns.
Tri Cities Indivisible joined forces with Yakima Indivisible and Methow Rising to hold multiple protests across Congressional District 4. The central message was the importance of community and due process for all.
Community members from the Tri-City area gathered at Volunteer Park to voice their opposition to the current administration. The protest was part of a broader movement across Congressional District 4, involving Yakima Indivisible and Methow Rising.
“This is just a protest of solidarity between the Eastern Washington groups within CD4. To talk about our values and to talk about what we’re trying to accomplish. We have a concern with the current administration and values that conflict with those. One of our core values is to exercise our First Amendment rights to speak out,” Tri Cities Indivisible co-founder Chuck Wood.
The focus on peaceful protest remains a priority for Tri Cities Indivisible.
“Any protest that we have, including this one, will be a peaceful protest. We’re not here to bring harm to anybody. But to peacefully exercise our First Amendment rights, which are being trampled on quite a bit by the current administration,” said Wood.
The organization was co-founded nearly a year ago by Wood, who has witnessed significant growth.
“Our first meeting, we had a room for 32 people, and we had 175 people show up, ‘Hands off‘ was 3000 people. ‘No Kings’ was 3500, The last ‘No kings’ was over 4000 people. There’s people that have never been to a protest up until they started coming to our protests and its building and people are really realizing just showing up makes a big difference,” said Wood.
Looking ahead, the National No Kings 3.0 protest is scheduled for March 28. As the midterms approach at the end of the year, Wood mentioned plans to hold town halls for local candidates to connect with constituents.
