RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of Richland has announced upcoming traffic impacts as the South George Washington Way Improvements Project nears completion. Motorists should prepare for delays, use alternate routes and follow all posted signage starting November 19, 2025.
Periodic northbound right lane closures will occur each day, beginning at 9 a.m. or later, over the next two weeks. On Wednesday, November 19, all-day closures will affect the northbound left-turn lane to Aaron Drive and the southbound far left through lane south of the Aaron Drive intersection.
Overnight work is scheduled from 9 p.m. on November 19 to 5: a.m. on November 20. The George Washington Way/Columbia Point Drive intersection will be controlled by flaggers for signal removal and installation, along with traffic lane striping adjustments.
Southbound right lane closures near Aaron Drive will occur on November 21 and November 24–26 to accommodate demolition and patching work. Additionally, on Wednesday, November 26, Columbia Point Drive will close at George Washington Way for final patching, with a detour via Comstock Street and Bradley Boulevard.
These modifications are essential for signal upgrades, pavement patching and lane alignment. Drivers are urged to slow down, stay alert and exercise caution through construction zones.
