KENNEWICK, Wash. – New figures from Visit Tri-Cities reveal that tourism injected over $640 million into the Tri-Cities economy last year. This spending included more than $100 million on essentials like food, lodging, and transportation respectively.

Kevin Lewis, CEO and President of Visit Tri-Cities, highlighted the impact of the region’s first Ironman race. “Brought in people from 45 states in 20 countries who had never seen this place before,” he said. These visitors often share their experiences on social media, further promoting the area.

Lewis shared the organization’s mission, stating, “That’s what we’re here for is to fuel transformational growth in the Tri-Cities. And so we do that by bringing in events and activities and visitors of all kinds.”

Looking ahead, plans are in motion for 2025 and beyond. “We’re talking to a lot of other organizations that are excited about possibly bringing their events here,” Lewis added.

For those visiting, Lewis recommended enjoying the local attractions. “If you’re going to come here, get down on the river, make sure you get on the trail system down there,” he said.

He also encouraged visitors not to miss out on the local wineries.

The Tri-Cities, comprising Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco, continue to grow as a destination for both tourists and locals seeking a quick getaway.
