GALLATIN COUNTY, Mont. — The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Search and Rescue Team responded to three snowmobile crashes today.

GCSO said the first crash happened just after 11:00 a.m. on the Two Top Trail, about 12 miles south of West Yellowstone. In this case, a rider lost control of their snowmobile and ended up stuck in a tree.

Rescuers managed to save the rider, who had several serious injuries, and guided them to an ambulance for medical attention.

The second accident occurred on the Two Top Trail System, eight miles west of West Yellowstone, shortly before 3:30 p.m. Despite a major injury, the rider was able to pilot the snowmobile to find an ambulance.

The third incident took place just before 4:15 p.m. and also involved a snowmobiler getting stuck in a tree, sustaining a severe injury. A helicopter transported this patient to a medical center.

Sheriff Dan Springer urged snowmobilers to prioritize safety on the trails. High speeds and reduced visibility are key factors in these potentially life-altering situations, he said.
