KENNEWICK, Wash. – Hundreds of people gathered in Kennewick as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protest against President Donald Trump and his administration. The protest was organized by the local Indivisible chapter in Tri-Cities and was one of up to 2,000 protests registered to take place across the nation.

Loren Malone, founder of the Tri-Cities Indivisible Chapter, estimated that between 3,000 to 5,000 people participated in the Kennewick protest.

“There’s a power grab right now. And the truth is, we have the power. We’re the people,” she said.

The protest was marked by the sound of honking cars as people showed their support. Malone emphasized the importance of celebrating democracy.

“It’s so fun to be around people and to know that we’re all in this together. We’re all here defending democracy together,” she said.

The Kennewick Police Department reported that the protest remained peaceful. They noted a few calls about protesters hitting cars with signs, but officers did not witness any such incidents.

Michael Harrington, a Pasco resident, expressed pride in participating.

“One person doesn’t mean anything, but where you get masses, demonstrations all across the country that can’t be ignored. And I’m proud to be part of that,” he said.

Malone highlighted the importance of ongoing efforts beyond the protest.

“It’s not all about this day too. The important thing for us is these moments, but also the continuing moments. Education, advocacy, participating in our local government,” she said.

The protest concluded without any major incidents, and participants are looking forward to future actions by the national Indivisible organization.
